BLOG AJ PAGE: 10 Ways to Use Art Journaling for Self-Care
Art Journal Page
I would like to paint the way a bird sings. – Claude Monet
A popular Art Journaling activity is to illustrate a quote, and you will find loads of them online – just search for your favourite author, poet, songwriter, artist, scholar, sportsman, politician, or celebrity – and find one that resonates deeply with you.
I recently came across this delightful gem from Monet – it captures the freedom of the creative process plus it allows me to include a bird image!
Here’s how I made the Art Journal page:
- Start with a piece of white card
- Use Distress Inks and mini ink blending tools to make the background -I used Twisted Citron and Peacock Feathers
- Then using Peacock Feathers go round the edges of the page
- Use a damp sponge over a stencil to remove some of the background ink here and there – daub off with paper towel
- Use a bird stamp inked with Forest Moss & Crushed Olive to create the main image
- Add texture and movement with a curvilinear stamp inked up in the same two greens and/or Crushed Olive & Peacock Feathers
- Use a branch and leaf stamp to create a border on some of the edges in Forest Moss & Crushed Olive
- Finally, add the quote using Forest Moss
